I met John may times at Warwick and Warwick auctions. He was a collector of world notes and coins. He was so knowledgeable and a very kind man with an eye for a bargain. Three years ago he bought a bag of copper coins at the auction, basically sold as ‘junk’. He had spotted at the viewing, one coin that was covered in dirt. It was a rare gold coin that he sold later for several thousand pounds. That was his best ‘find’. On Ebay, he and his wife ran a very successful business. He died last week after a short illness. He is missed, a great character wose company was always interesting and entertaining.
