Lost in the Post – Missing Banknotes

Over the years, Royal Mail has offered a good service with only an occasional item not reaching the destination. However, these past weeks three items have been ‘lost’. One package contained Mahon and Catterns 10/- – high value. Never arrived even though the banknotes had been sent by ‘signed for’ mail. Compensation was £50 but the value was not too shy of £350. I have to blame myself for not using the ‘Registered Post’ which offers better security and compensation for lost bank notes. Suffice to say I use the latter now for most orders. However, a recent posting of a rare Scottish banknote to the USA by the Registered Track and Trace has also been ‘lost’ in the USA. Thankfully, all the documentation is in order and compensation has been applied for. I wonder if other sellers are having similar problems or have decided to use any other Companies to send post? I would be grateful for any thoughts.
